Developer postpones Pillars of Eternity until 2015
The fan-funded RPG game Pillars of Eternity is coming out later than planned. The game was supposed to be released at the end of the current calendar year, but the release date has been pushed back to early 2015, the developer said.
Obsidian Entertainment has pushed the release because Obsidian Entertainment doesn’t want to deliver a game with major bugs to its backers. The extra time will be used to optimize the game based on feedback during the last beta test.
The Pillars of Eternity budget has been raised through crowdfunding. The collection has raised about four million dollars, converted 3.16 million euros, in a month via Kickstarter and its own site, which was a record at the time. With the money, the studio makes an RPG in the style of games like Planescape: Torment, Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale. The game runs on a Unity engine, and will be released for Windows OS X and Linux.
