Developer manages to get root access on Pixel 3 smartphone
Taiwanese developer John Wu, known for the Magisk root method, has managed to gain root access on the Pixel 3. An earlier version of the root method left the smartphone in a bootloop.
In a short message on Twitter, Wu, who is also known online by the pseudonym topjohnwu, know that his efforts were successful, something he underlined by posting an image. It shows that he has obtained root with the Magisk Manager developed by him on his Pixel 3 smartphone.
It appears that he used an early version of Magisk to gain root access, which has not yet been released as a stable release. Wu previously said that using Magisk on the Pixel 3 led to bootloops and other boot problems. So those issues seem to have been fixed in a new version of the root manager.
Magisk is a root method that has gained a lot of popularity in recent years because it does not require any modifications to system files. In addition, phones running Magisk can often bypass Google SafetyNet. Phones that do not pass the check cannot install apps such as Netflix in the Play Store.
