Developer makes browser to use Google Stadia on iOS

A developer has created a browser to use Google Stadia game streaming service on iOS. The browser is in the App Store and supports Stadia via tricks to run controllers in the browser and the user agent to adjust.

By default, Stadia does not work if the service recognizes an iOS browser and therefore the browser pretends to be Mac software, user write u / ZMKnox on Reddit. After installing the browser, users themselves must set the primary url on Stadia, which is user agent select and log in via Google. After that, the browser will always arrive at the logged in Stadia page when opened.

The browser has no other interface elements and therefore works full screen. Stadia can’t recognize the exact controller users are pairing with, which may be problematic for some players in some games, but otherwise it works fine, 9to5Google notes. All controllers that work on iOS also work in the browser by code from developer Jason Meulenhoff.

The trick is still needed at the moment, as Apple doesn’t allow game streaming services on iOS and Stadia doesn’t work by default in Safari. That may change, as Safari appears to be gaining support for the Stadia controller. The Stadium browser is in the App Store and requires iOS 14 or later.
