Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Gets More Complicated Ends
Action RPG Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will have a more complicated end-of-story setting system than predecessor Human Revolution. It had a set of buttons in the last space, each representing a different ending.
Oliver Proulx, producer of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided tells PCGamesN that the outcome of Mankind Divided’s story is determined by the choices players make over the course of the final mission, and not before that. However, there is also the intention to allow the decisions players make during the game to influence certain circumstances and events later in the game.
The more complicated process by which the ending is determined is reminiscent of the original Deus Ex from the year 2000. In the final mission, players had to perform different actions to reach the different endings of the story. This meant that each ending also provided a different gameplay experience. So it looks like this situation is returning in Mankind Divided. Deus Ex: Human Revolution lacked this.
Development studio Eidos Montreal also seemed to have the intention to bring the freedoms of boss fights from the first Deus Ex to Mankind Divided. There it was on occasion possible to win a boss fight by ‘beating’ the boss in a conversation. For this, players had to have made the necessary preparations at an earlier point in the game. Although this news was made the rounds in July of this year, gameplay director Patrick Fortier cleared up that misconception. However, players can change the nature of the confrontation somewhat with the use of stealth.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be available on February 23, 2016 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows.
