Details on Nvidia Shield TV Pro with Tegra X1+ and Dolby Vision are coming online
Amazon briefly had a product page about the Nvidia Shield TV Pro online. This showed that it is a version of the Shield TV with a more powerful processor, more extensive remote control and Dolby Vision support.
Nvidia has not announced the Shield TV Pro itself at the time of writing, nor has the company revealed any details about the Tegra X1+ before. According to the now offline Amazon page, that processor performs about 25 percent better than the X1. Among others, 9to5Google has made a screenshot of the page. Just like the current model, the media player has 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, two USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet and HDMI. The housing has also remained identical.
However, the remote control has undergone a major metamorphosis. Instead of the minimalistic slim remote, there is an elongated triangular prism that runs on two AAA batteries. The remote control has a button for the microphone so that voice input via the Google Assistant is possible. There is also a dedicated Netflix button and in addition to the usual media control keys, there is a button that users can assign to a function themselves. The buttons are backlit and Amazon reports a ‘lost remote locator’.
The Shield TV Pro has support for Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus. The regular Shield TV does not support Dolby Vision. The Shield TV Pro will be available on October 28 for $199, according to Amazon. That is converted and with VAT 216 euros. The current Shield TV has a suggested retail price of 230 euros at Nvidia, but is available for 200 euros.
