Details on first batch of Broadwell processors come online
The specifications of the first three Broadwell processors produced at 14nm from Intel have appeared online. According to the latest planning, the Core M processors in the economical Y-line should appear this year.
The first generation Broadwell processors consist of three dual cores and, as always with the chips with the Y designation, they have a low consumption. The TDP is 4.5W and for this Intel has kept the standard clock speed of both the CPU and the GPU part very low. The processors do have significantly higher Turbo clock speeds.
Core M 5Y10 and the 5Y10a have almost the same specifications. The Core M 5Y10 does have a configurable tdp, Cpu World describes, so that it can be set with a tdp lower than 4.5W, for example. The Core M5Y70 is an economical chip for business thin laptops and tablets. This dual-core also supports HyperThreading to work on four threads simultaneously, the clock speed is higher than that of the 5Y10 models, and there is support for Trusted Execution and Intel’s vPro platform.
According to VR-Zone, Intel’s most recent schedule still states that the Core M models will be released at the end of this year and that production will start shortly. Delivery of the first energy-efficient chips with a U designation for ultrabooks, among others, will start at the end of this year, so that they should be available in systems at the beginning of 2015. This concerns the 2+2 and 2+3 variants. which have the GT2 and GT3 GPU respectively. The less powerful 2+1 versions of the U-designated Broadwell chips, which will appear as Celeron and Pentium, will arrive later in the first quarter of 2015.
Broadwell is the successor to the current Haswell generation of Intel processors. The chips are produced at 14nm, where it is currently 22nm.
