Details of possible Thinkpad X1s with Intel Ice Lake processors appear
Specifications have come online for 12 ThinkPad laptops that Lenovo plans to launch this year. It is striking that the ThinkPad X1 Yoga and X1 Carbon would come with an Intel Ice Lake processor in June, while this 10nm generation would only appear at the end of this year.
The specs lists of the twelve Lenovo laptops were posted to Reddit by a user with the alias Digitoast. Each list contains the specifications of the currently available ThinkPad model and the model that will be released this year.
For example, the X1 Yoga G4 and the X1 Carbon G7 would have an option for an uhd screen compared to the G3 and G6 respectively, up to 32GB lpddr4, hdmi 2.0 and two usb 3.1 ports, one of which is of the gen 2 type. . The new models are also thinner and lighter according to the specifications and the X1 Yoga would also contain thinner screen edges.
The most notable feature of the new X1s is the claimed presence of Ice Lake-generation Core i5s and i7s. Processors of this generation are the first Intel makes on its teased 10nm process. Intel has more than once mentioned the end of 2019 as the period in which the first products with 10nm chips should appear, such as recently during CES.
However, the Lenovo specifications that have appeared on Reddit refer to June 2019 as the month in which the laptops should be released. It seems that the specifications should be taken with a grain of salt. It is true that Dell previously opposite Trusted Reviews already hinted at the unveiling of an XPS laptop with an Ice Lake processor this summer. There is also a chance that manufacturers will reveal their laptops with Ice Lake processors during, for example, the Computex fair at the end of May, early June, after which availability will follow at the end of 2019.
