Details of Olympus 25mm f/1.2 and 12-100mm f/4 are coming online
Photos and specifications of three new Olympus lenses for microfourthirds cameras have emerged. In the Pro series there will be a 25 mm f/1.2 and a 12-100 mm f/4 with image stabilization. There will also be a 30mm f/3.5 macro lens.
The bright 25mm lens is called ‘M.Zuiko 25mm F1.2 Pro’ in full. The optical design consists of nineteen elements in fourteen groups. The minimum focus distance is 30cm and the diaphragm has nine blades. The standard lens has dimensions of 70x87mm and a filter thread of 62mm. The weight is 410g.
There will also be an M.Zuiko 12-100 mm f/4 IS Pro, a zoom with built-in image stabilization. Focusing is possible from 15cm in the wide-angle position and 45cm when zoomed in to the maximum. The diaphragm has seven blades and the optical design consists of seventeen elements in eleven groups. The zoom measures 77.5×116.5mm and weighs 561g.
The third lens whose details are online is the M.Zuiko 30mm f/3.5 Macro. It is a small lens, measuring 57x60mm and weighing 128g. You can focus from 1 cm and the filter size is 46 mm. Amazon Japan already has a product page of the 30mm f/3.5 Macro online.
The three lenses are suitable for microfourthirds cameras. They have a crop factor of 2x, which means that the focal lengths of the 25mm, 12-100mm and 30mm correspond to 50mm, 24-200mm and 60mm in full-frame equivalent respectively.
The details about the new lenses were published by Japan’s Nokishita blog and noted by 43rumors. The official announcement of the lenses will probably follow soon. The Photokina in Cologne starts on September 20, many manufacturers announce their new products just before the photo fair.
