Details of Intel NUCs with 28W processors and Iris Plus 655 GPU appear
Intel comes with three NUCs that are equipped with a 28W processor. They all have an Iris Plus Graphics 655 GPU on board with 128MB edram. There will be versions with a Core i3, i5, and i7 and the first two variants also come as a separate motherboard.
The arrival of the new NUCs is apparent from information that FanlessTech has put online. The slide shows five models, but actually it concerns three versions and two variants as separate motherboard. Manufacturers can make their own small PC based on the separate board.
The NUC8i7BEH is the new top model, with a Core i7-8559U. Below that comes the NUC8i5BEK, with a Core i5-8295U. Both processors are quad cores with HyperThreading. The Core i7 model goes up to 4.5GHz and the maximum clock speed of the Core i5 is 3.8GHz. The NUC8i3BEK will be the cheapest variant and it contains the Core i3-8109U, a dual-core with HyperThreading with a turbo speed of up to 3.6GHz.
Intel announced the 28W processors included in the new NUCs in April. The so-called Coffee Lake-U processors are variants of last year’s 15W laptop processors, but more powerful. Because they have a higher TDP, they can probably work longer at a high clock speed and they also have a GPU on board that is more powerful. In all cases, it concerns the Iris Plus Graphics 655, which has 48 execution units and is equipped with 128MB edram.
The cabinets will accommodate a 2.5″ SSD or HDD and there is Intel Optane support. The dimensions of the NUCs are 117x112x51mm. When Intel will release the new NUCs and what they will cost, it is not yet known.
