Details of Intel Gemini Lake Refresh socks appear online

The specifications of six socs of Intel’s Gemini Lake Refresh generation have appeared on the internet. The processors would be announced in November, according to previously leaked information.

The details of the processors are in an overview published by FanlessTech. That site already reported on the arrival of Gemini Lake Refresh in August, but then only had the clock speeds of the Pentium J5040. The J variants of the socs are for desktops and all-in-one systems, the N versions are for laptops and tablets.

The processors are built around the Goldmont Plus architecture and Intel produces them at 14nm. Compared to their predecessors, the Gemini Lake Refresh chips therefore differ little: they have the same number of cores, cache amount and UHD Graphics GPUs. However, the clock speeds are higher. For example, the current J5005 has a clock speed of 1.5GHz with a boost speed of 2.8GHz, while the upcoming J5040 will go well beyond that with 2GHz and 3.2GHz respectively.

According to FanlessTech, motherboards and mini PCs with integrated Gemini Lake Refresh chips will have to wait until early 2020. The chips may be coming to devices such as laptops, tablets and all-in-ones earlier.
