Desktop display docking station Galaxy S8 includes active cooling

Samsung’s DeX Station is a round drive and includes USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet and active cooling to keep the Galaxy S8 cool. This is evident from details about the accessory, with which users can use the smartphone as a desktop system.

The puck includes an expandable kickstand so that the Galaxy S8 can be placed in the DeX Station. The accessory offers connectivity via USB-C, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and Ethernet. 4K playback at 30fps is possible via HDMI and the Ethernet port offers a maximum bandwidth of 100Mbit/s. A fan is incorporated in the round disc that should ensure that the Galaxy S8 does not get too hot. This is evident from details that WinFuture discovered.

The DeX Station is the accessory for the Samsung Desktop Experience. This allows the Galaxy S8 for desktop use to be connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse in, for example, business environments. The functionality is comparable to Microsoft’s Continuum, but Samsung’s variant offers support for displaying multiple windows in desktop mode, unlike Windows 10 Mobile. Tuesday it was announced that the separately available DeX Station will cost 150 euros.
