Denon has announced a new series of wireless speakers, with which the company competes with the well-known Sonos variants. Initially, there will be three speakers and a WiFi extender in the HEOS line.

With the speakers, users can stream music from a smartphone, USB stick or NAS. Operation is via the Denon Controller app, which is available for iOS or Android. Streaming works over existing wireless home networks and for users whose network does not offer enough bandwidth, Denon has an optionally available Range Extender. The manufacturer has collaborated with Waves Audio to be able to use the equalizer settings that that company offers under the MaxxAudio name.

The HEOS 3 is the two-channel entry-level entry in the series, with an aux and a USB input. The HEOS 5 is a lot bigger and offers, among other things, four Class D amplifiers and two tweeters. The HEOS 7 is equipped with a metal strip and this model has five amplifiers and in addition to the aux and USB connections there is a headphone output.

The speakers will be available in black and white in August. Prices start at $300 and go up to $600 for the most expensive model.
