Dell releases new Latitude 9000 laptop with Zoom buttons on trackpad
Dell has released several new laptops in the Latitude series. The top model, the 9440, is a 14″ 2-in-1 laptop that has haptic feedback in the touchpad. The line-up of the 5000 and 7000 series has also been updated, with the latter featuring an ultralight variant.
Dell comes with different versions of the Latitudes. The 9440 is a 2-in-1 laptop primarily aimed at business users. The trackpad in particular stands out in that device; which gives haptic feedback when the user clicks. There are also separate buttons on the trackpad with which certain actions can be performed. For now, only Zoom can be operated with the buttons. Users can use the buttons to turn their microphone or camera on and off or share their screen. In the future, Dell wants to collaborate with other services to make the controls available for that as well.
The Latitude 9440 also has a 14″ touchscreen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen has a brightness of 500cd/m² and can display 100 percent of the sRGB color spectrum. The laptop comes with a Thirteenth generation Intel i7 processor and up to 64GB of Lpddr5x memory. The laptop charges via USB-C at up to 100W and has a 60Wh battery. The device has three USB-C connections with Thunderbolt 4 and DisplayPort and a nano-SIM card connection .
The model is 310.5x215x16.3mm thick and weighs 1.5 kilos. It is not yet known what the 9440 will cost. The release date is also not yet clear. The laptop will be available “sometime in the coming months.”
Dell also releases enhanced versions of several Latitudes in the 7000 and 5000 series. There will be a new 7340 and 5340, 7440 and 5440, and a 7460 and 5460. Those models mainly differ in size; the laptops are available with 13″, 14″ or 16″ screens. The two smallest models of the 7000 series are ultralight models, the 13″ model weighs less than a kilo: 0.982 kilos.
The laptops have a 16:10 aspect ratio in all configurations and come with up to a third-generation Intel i7 CPU. Like the 9440 top model, the laptops have a maximum of 64GB of Lpddr5 memory and an integrated Iris Xe GPU. All models are available with a thirteenth generation Intel soc, except the 5440, which is also available with a twelfth generation soc. The six models are available immediately, but Dell does not yet mention the price for them.
