Dell owes growth figures to business market

Dell has recorded a net profit of $927 million in the fourth quarter of its broken fiscal year. The computer manufacturer mainly benefited from a rising demand for hardware from Asia and the business community.

Dell’s fourth quarter revenue rose 5 percent to $15.7 billion. In a explanation based on the figures, the computer manufacturer states that the demand for hardware from Asia in particular has risen sharply. Dell’s sales in this part of the world increased by 17 percent, while sales growth in Europe and the US was stuck at 3 percent.

Dell would also benefit from increased business demand. Many companies would now replace their aging hardware with new PCs and laptops, increasing enterprise-level revenue by 20 percent. In the SME segment, Dell saw its computer sales increase by 22 percent. Sales of servers, storage systems and additional services also picked up.

In the consumer market, the arrival of Windows 7 would have resulted in increasing sales. Revenue in this market segment rose 11 percent to $3.3 billion.

Dell expects to be able to maintain growth for the coming financial year. The computer manufacturer expects a revenue growth of 5 to 9 percent and a profit increase of up to 12 percent.
