Dell launches monitor with ‘ultra hd 5k’ resolution
Dell has announced the Dell UltraSharp 27 HD 5K Monitor, a 27″ monitor with a resolution of 5120×2880 pixels. Dell will make the monitor available to graphics professionals at the end of this year, for an undisclosed price.
This year, manufacturers have used the term “5k” among televisions to designate their 105″ models with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and resolution of 5120×2160 pixels. Dell is envisioning a forthcoming monitor with the name Dell UltraSharp 27 HD 5K model 5120×2880 pixels: a doubling in both height and width of the resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Since it is a 27″ screen, the pixel density comes out to 218ppi, while the total number of pixels is 14,745,600.
The screen is equipped with anti-reflective glass and contains two integrated speakers from audio company Harman Kardon. In addition, there are six USB ports and a memory card reader. The screen is adjustable in height and can be tilted 90 degrees. Dell is targeting graphics professionals with the screen and they will be able to purchase the monitor at the end of this year, for an as yet undisclosed price.
