Dell Introduces Dual Charge Dock-USB-C Laptop Dock with Built-in Qi Charger
Dell has shown the Dual Charge Dock, a docking station that can power a laptop and wirelessly charge a smartphone with the Qi standard. The dock will be available from May and costs 402 euros.
The Dual Charge Dock is a regular laptop dock, similar to other Dell laptop docks, but it also has a slanted panel on the front on which a phone can rest. This panel has a fabric top layer and a bulge at the bottom, so that a phone does not slide away. Under that fabric layer is the Qi wireless charger, which can charge a smartphone or earphones with a maximum of 12W.
At the back of the dock is also a fixed USB-C cable, which can charge a laptop with 90W. There are also a DisplayPort 1.4 and an HDMI 2.1 port through which two screens can be connected. According to Dell, it is its first dock with an HDMI 2.1 port. In addition, there are four USB-A ports and a single USB-C port. Devices can also be charged with those USB ports. With USB-A this goes up to 4.5W; with USB-C, the dock can deliver up to 15W of power.
Dell’s Dual Charge Dock HD22Q will be available from May 12 and will cost $368.99 in the US, converted to EUR 402 including VAT. It is not known whether the dock will also come to the Benelux.
