Dell equips entry-level gaming laptops G15 and G16 with 55W 13th-generation processors

Dell uses the CES to provide its G15 and G16 gaming laptops with new hardware. These are 55W processors from Intel’s thirteenth generation and ‘next-gen’ video cards from Nvidia. The laptops will be available in Europe in March.

The G15 and G16 are the entry-level gaming laptops that Dell sells under its own brand name. The more expensive models fall under the Alienware brand name, of which Dell also released four new models on Tuesday. The G15 and G16 are characterized by a largely similar design, with a two-tone housing.

The difference is in the screen. The G15 has a 15.6″ panel, with a conventional resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 or 165Hz. The 16″ models have a higher 16:10 ratio and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The refresh rate on those screens is 165Hz or 240Hz.

As far as processors are concerned, there is a choice of four Intel ‘HX’ chips. The HX series has a TDP of 55W and these are also the fastest chips that Intel can supply. It is not yet known which video card Dell is putting in the G15 and 16. In any case, these are ‘next-gen’ GeForce cards, which points to the RTX 40 series. The current G16 can be supplied with up to an RTX 3070 Ti.

The G15 and G16 will be available in Europe from March 9. It is not yet known at what prices, but it is already known how much they will cost in the United States. The G15 will be available there from $850, while the G16 will cost at least $1,150.
