Dell is considering using 3: 2 screens for XPS laptops
Dell is considering using image ratios other than 16: 9 for laptops and convertibles. Among other things, the company would think about using the aspect ratio of 3: 2, just as Microsoft does with the Surface Book.
In the past, aspect ratios of 16:10 and 4: 3 commonplace among laptops, but since 2008 the 16: 9 aspect ratio has been rising and that ratio has since become the standard. Following tablets, recently 2-in-1 laptops with 3: 2 screens appeared, such as the Microsoft Surface Book and the Matebook X from Huawei while Google’s Pixelbook also has this display ratio. With smartphones many manufacturers also switch to alternative aspect ratios such as 18: 9, 19: 9 and 19.5: 9.
