Dell Announces New Version XPS 13

Dell has announced a new version of its XPS 13 laptop. The biggest innovation, according to the manufacturer, is the much smaller motherboard, which means that the laptop should be lighter and more powerful, and nevertheless last longer on a battery charge.

The new XPS 13 has type number 9315. The laptop is the same length and width as its predecessor 9300, but at 14mm slightly thinner than the 14.8mm of the previous XPS. The screen is again a 13.4″ display with 16:10 ratio. There are options for a resolution of 3840×2400 pixels and 1920×1200 pixels. Only the 4k option has a touchscreen.

The processor is an Intel Core i5-1230U or Core i7-1250U, both 10-head processors with 12MB cache. For the memory there are options of 8, 16 and 32GB, in all cases dual channel Lpddr5 memory at 5200MHz. Storage ranges from 256GB to 1TB; In all cases it is an SSD.

Dell gives the laptop a battery with a capacity of 51Wh, which can be charged with 45W via USB-C. The laptop has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and no other ports. A USB-C to USB-A adapter is included in the box, and Dell optionally includes a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Nothing is known about a European release yet. The XPS 13 will be available in the US starting at $999 with Windows 11; the Ubuntu version costs $50 less.

Dell XPS 2-in-1 with 5G

Dell simultaneously presents an XPS 2-in-1 with 5G. Connecting to mobile networks is done via an e-SIM in the device. That’s an option; a Wi-Fi-only model is also coming out. The 2-in-1 version of the XPS 13 also comes with Intel Core processors of the twelfth generation. The memory is Lpddr4x instead of Lpddr5.

The screen is a 13″ LCD with 3:2 ratio and 2880×1920 pixels. The 2-in-1 also only has two Thunderbolt ports for charging and connecting equipment. The laptop has a 49.5Wh battery that also can charge with 45W A price is not yet known, because it will only be released in the summer.Nothing is known about a release in the Benelux either of the 2-in-1.
