‘Delivery of Jolla Tablet is at risk due to financial problems’
The delivery of the Jolla Tablet is in jeopardy because the Finnish company behind the tablet is in financial trouble. So says the Finnish broadcaster Yle. The tablet has been delayed several times since it was first announced late last year.
Although there are customers who have already received the tablet, there are also people who are still waiting for their copy of the Jolla Tablet. Jolla no longer guarantees the tablet will really come, Yle writes. This seems to jeopardize the delivery of the tablet. Customers ordered the tablet from the crowdfunding campaign last year.
The Finnish maker of tablets and smartphones and developer of the mobile operating system Sailfish is said to be in financial trouble. According to Yle, Jolla has temporarily forced half of the staff, which would number 100 people, on temporary leave to cut costs.
Jolla has only been around for a few years and released the Jolla smartphone at the end of 2013. The company said it would rather focus on licensing its software, rather than selling hardware.
