Deathloop will be released on May 21 for PlayStation 5 and PC. The game can be pre-ordered immediately through the Bethesda.net Launcher and should also be available for purchase through Steam later. Deathloop is a timed exclusive; the Xbox Series version could become available in 2022.

In addition to announcing the release date, Bethesda explains in the blog post which pre-order bonuses players will receive. Those who pre-order the game will receive a unique weapon, a unique skin and an extra Trinket. These are items that provide in-game bonuses. In addition, there is a Deluxe Edition with additional unique weapons, skins and Trinkets. You also get a part of the game’s soundtrack with this version. Deathloop should have appeared as a PS5 launch title, but was postponed to the second quarter of 2021 due to the corona pandemic. The extra home working would require more time.

Deathloop is a first-person shooter set in a surreal environment, where players must survive on the island of Blackreef. The character Colt is stuck in a time loop, reliving the same ‘deadly’ day over and over again. He can break this cycle by killing eight targets while trying to avoid his rival Julianna. Julianna can also be chosen to play, putting you in another player’s game. Then you have to prevent that player from knowing how to put the eight characters. Deathloop is being developed by Arkane Lyon, known for Dishonored, among others. The game’s publisher, Bethesda, was previously acquired by Microsoft.
