There are a total of six games that qualify for the Game of the Year title. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Resident Evil 2 are also nominated. The winners of The Game Awards will be announced in December. The nominations were presented on Tuesday.

Death Streanding by Hidejo Kojima has received a total of nine nominations. Including art direction, audio design, soundtrack, story and acting by Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen. Control by Remedy Games has eight nominations. This also includes nominations for the best art direction and game direction and nominations for the acting performance.

The Outer Worlds by Obsidian is not only nominated for the title game of the year, but also has a nomination for the best RPG. In that category, the game has to compete against Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XIV, among others.

Fortnite has three nominations and Fortnite player Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf has been nominated as best esports player. He won the Fortnite World Cup this year. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Gears 5 and Sayonara Wild Hearts also received three nominations. Borderlands 3 received two nominations.

The nominations were chosen by an international jury involving participants from eighty media publications. The winners are chosen by the jury and the public. The votes of the public count for 10 percent.

The Game Awards will be presented on December 12. The winners will then be announced during a show where new games are also expected to be announced. Last year, for example, The Outer Worlds was announced. The competition was founded in 2014 by Geoff Keighley; he is also the presenter of the show.
