Dead or Alive 6 launches early 2019 for PS4, Xbox One and PC
Team Ninja has announced that Dead or Alive 6 will be released in early 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in the context of E3. There are familiar characters in it, but new faces will also be introduced.
IGN, which has published a first preview of the game, writes that the new addition to the Dead or Alive series adds more realistic details. For example, after a number of moves, characters get out of breath and start sweating. In addition, injuries they sustain are now also visible. According to producer Yohei Shimbori, the fantasy and science fiction theme of the series remains intact.
The new game also adds a super meter for the first time, which players can charge by, for example, dealing blows. When the meter is full, players can perform a special attack. A so-called Fatal Rush can also be performed at the push of a button, which amounts to a combo attack. That should make the game more attractive to new players.
Shimbori says the visual changes also extend to the portrayal of female characters, who were often portrayed over-sexualized in the DoA games. That has now been reduced, partly through less naked characters and less emphasis on the body. A teaser site for the game has been launched, stating that more information will be available on June 11.
