Daybreak Games Company Announces New EverQuest Expansion
EverQuest will receive its 25th expansion in December. This expansion is called EverQuest: The Burning Lands and revolves around the Planes of Power, which were introduced in 2002 in the fourth expansion. An exact release date is not yet known.
In a blog post on EverQuest’s website, little is said about the content of the expansion. Nothing is known about special items, raids or zones yet, but Daybreak does say that “air and fire will play a big role in the upcoming adventures”. According to PC Gamer, the developer hereby hints that the expansion will mainly be aimed at experienced players.
EverQuest is one of the oldest mmorpgs to still have an active playerbase. It came out for PC on March 16, 1999. The number of players logging in on a daily basis these days is significantly smaller, especially when compared to other mmorpgs. According to Steam Charts, the peak in September 2018 was 382 players. Despite this, Daybreak still releases expansions for EverQuest every year.
