Dataminer discovers references to annotation feature in Steam

Valve appears to be working on a note-taking functionality for certain games. These would be available in the Library and on the web, according to a data miner. The notes can be used for puzzles, for example.

Pavel Djundik reports this, Valve software data miner and SteamDB frontman. He shows two screenshots of program code with references to the annotation system. He doesn’t mention where he found them, but the texts are probably in a beta version of the Steam application.

There is no release date for the feature. Presence of such code in a publicly available client only means that it is being worked on. It is also possible that the function will still be deleted and not become available at all.

Recently, Steam got the feature to transfer game data locally from one device to another, so a game doesn’t have to be downloaded twice. Big Picture Mode also features the look of SteamOS and last year there were shopping hubs and a new mobile app with faster 2fa.
