Database with camgirlsites user data was accessible unprotected
The Spanish company VTS Media has left a database with data of users of camsites as amateur.tv open for weeks. The database contained, among other things, IP addresses and chat messages from users.
The database that could be accessed unprotected via the internet included data from the amateur.tv, webcampornoxxx.net and placercams.com sites, all of which are managed by VTS Media. This made it possible to view logs with usernames, IP addresses, personal messages and in some cases e-mail addresses.
Logs of failed login attempts were able to retrieve passwords in plain text and it was also clear who watched which videos, TechCrunch writes . Not only did data from users of the sites end up on the street, but also those of the women who worked as camgirls for the sites.
It would be about data from millions of users. The database was found by security company Condition: Black. After reporting this to VTS Media, the security issue has been resolved. It is not known whether the data has been channeled away and has ended up on the internet.
