D-Link Introduces Surveillance Cameras With Alexa And Assistant Support

D-Link comes with three home surveillance cameras that support voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Also, the cameras have ifttt integration. Images can be stored locally, or in D-Link’s cloud.

The integration with the voice assistants from Amazon and Google makes it possible, for example, to show saved images on a TV with a voice command. With ifttt it is also possible to link actions to other smart home devices. For example, the motion sensor of the cameras could turn on a lamp.

The three security cameras work with the mydlink app, which allows you to view the images from the cameras remotely. All models have a sensor for sound and motion detection and can send an alert via the app if those sensors detect something. The cameras also record sound.

If users allow images to be stored in the cloud, D-Link stores them for free for 24 hours. Paid options for storage up to thirty days will come later. It is possible to disable the cloud function and save images only to a micro SD card.

The three new models are intended for indoor use. The two cheapest models have a fixed lens with a wide viewing angle. The entry-level model has a small 1/4″ sensor with a video resolution of 1280×720 pixels, the more expensive models capture full-HD images on a slightly larger 1/2.7″ sensor. The most expensive version has a pan and tilt function, with which the camera can be moved.

D-Link will release the cameras at the end of July. The HD model costs 90 euros, the full-HD version has a suggested retail price of 100 euros and the full-HD variant with pan and tilt functionality will be in stores for 149 euros.
