D-Link Introduces 802.11ax and McAfee Secure Routers
D-Link has presented new networking equipment at CES, including two new routers that will support the 802.11ax standard. In addition, the company released an 802.11ac router with built-in security from McAfee.
D-Link’s new top model is the AX11000 Ultra Wi-Fi router, which supports a wireless transfer rate of up to 11Gbit/s. The 802.11ax standard is used for this, which is not yet finished. The AX11000 is a triband router, which also gets a dual band brother in the form of the AX6000. That router also supports the 802.11ax standard, but has a maximum wireless transfer rate of 6Gbit/s. Both routers support 4×4 mu-mimo, have a WAN connection that supports a transfer rate of 2.5Gbit/s and four LAN connections that support a maximum of 1Gbit/s. A USB 3.0 connection will be available on both models when they come on the market in the second half of 2018.

In addition, D-Link introduced a router with Intel’s WAV500 chipset, which runs the McAfee Secure Home Platform. The chip supports up to 128 devices simultaneously. The software ensures that dangerous websites are blocked and can be operated with an Android or iOS app. The router itself supports the 802.11ac protocol with a maximum wireless speed of 2.6Gbit/s and mu-mimo.
D-Link also introduces the new mesh routers in the Covr series. The Covr-C1203 consists of three dual-band nodes, which support a maximum speed of 1200Mbit/s on an 802.11ac network. The Covr-C2202 consists of two triband nodes, with a dedicated 5GHz backhaul. The C2202 has support for Amazon Alexa, allowing you to control your wireless network with your voice. The Covr-C1203 will be available in Q1 2018 for USD 250, while the Covr-C2202 will be available for USD 320 in Q2. European prices are not yet known.
