Cyanogen has started distributing CM12 nightlies for the first devices. The new version of CyanogenMod is based on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. However, some functions do not work yet.

Cyanogen supports several dozen devices with CM12, including devices from Google, Samsung, HTC and Oppo, according to the list that the company has put online. Not all features of CyanogenMod work in these first nightlies. For example, the ‘theme engine’ is not yet active and users cannot adjust the quick settings in order. The quick way of unlocking, so that users do not have to press ‘ok’ after entering, does not yet work.

CM12 is coming a little later than Cyanogen previously announced. CyanogenMod is the most popular custom ROM for Android and has more than ten million users according to the latest figures. The firmware has the appearance of the Android release as Google puts it on its Nexus devices, but developers add their own functionality.

Update, 14:11: As P1nGu1n points out, CM12 is based on Android 5.0.2, not 5.0.1
