‘Cyanogen Inc has changed name to Andrasta’
The American company Cyanogen, which previously made the Android variant Cyanogen OS and managed the servers for CyanogenMod, has probably changed its name to Andrasta. That would appear from a deleted tweet from the director of Cyanogen.
The director tweeted some photos of a car accident in front of the company. The entrance seen on the side of the photo features the Andrasta logo which previously used to be Cyanogen Inc, Android Police noted. The site notes that it had heard of the new name for a month, but was waiting for confirmation.
The company has a website, which does not explain what the company makes or offers, but only lists companies that are believed to have invested, including chip maker Qualcomm and Chinese service provider Tencent.
It is the first time that the former Cyanogen Inc is making itself heard after stopping the Android release in December. Cyanogen pulled the plug from its own Android release Cyanogen OS, which is included on smartphones from the British Wileyfox and originated from the world’s most popular alternative Android custom rom CyanogenMod. That project has continued under the name LineageOS.
