Customers will receive Oculus Rift later due to component shortage
Oculus is struggling with component shortages in the delivery of Rift headsets. The company confirms this in an email to customers. As a result, many customers receive the Rift weeks later than they were promised with the order in January.
Customers who ordered a Rift in January were told that Oculus would ship their order by the end of March, but that will now be the case for many customers in mid-April. The company does not state which components are lacking.
It is noticeable that Oculus only informs customers after the promised delivery period has already expired. It is unknown why the company has not notified customers sooner. Earlier this week, Oculus only reported that the first Rifts had been delivered.
As compensation for the waiting time, Oculus will not charge the shipping costs, which exceed forty euros in the Benelux. It is unknown how many customers will get the Rift later due to the shortage of components.
