Cupra will come in 2025 with a compact, electric hatchback with a range of 440 km
Cupra, a car brand within the Volkswagen Group, has released some specifications of the UrbanRebel. This is a compact electric hatchback that should be released in 2025 on the new MEB Small platform. The long-distance version has a range of 440km.
The UrbanRebel is a front-wheel drive model with a length of 4.03 meters. The power of the electric motor is 166kW (226hp) and that means according to the manufacturer that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 6.9 seconds. The ‘lightweight designs’ should contribute to this. The car has a maximum range of 440 km, although that only applies to the long-range version. So there will probably also be versions with a smaller range. The images show a draft version; the car has yet to go into production and therefore elements may differ in the production version. Production will take place in Martorell, Spain.
The new model will be built on the new MEB Small platform. This is the platform that will form the basis for several similar models from multiple brands within the Volkswagen Group. The UrbanRebel falls in the same segment as the Volkswagen Polo, Seat Ibiza and the Skoda Fabia. It is obvious that electric successors to all those models that use this new platform will appear.
Cupra was previously a name within the Seat brand that was used for sporty versions of Seat car models. Since February 2018 Cupra . has been transformed into a new sports car brand within Seat. The first car released after this reform was the non-electric Cupra Ateca SUV, which accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds in its fastest version. The brand also released a fully electric car, the Cupra Born. That model can be regarded as the brother of the Volkswagen ID.3.
