CS:GO will soon have an auto-mute system for nuisance players
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will soon have a new feature to limit nuisance from other players. If a player gets too many reports, he will be automatically muted for everyone at some point. Players can still ‘unmute’ the offender.
According to the official blog post, the condition is that players “get significantly more reports than other players”, after which they are warned first. After that, if the reports keep coming in, the auto-mute goes into effect. This applies until the player has earned ‘enough XP’ to remove the penalty. It is not stated how high that XP threshold is.
Valve wants to prevent abuse of this system by weighing reports. A report weighs more heavily if the player plays the game more often and if he submits a report less often.
Players can still unmute someone who has crossed the line on their own accord, as well as having the freedom to mute any player they want, both in voice and text. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has the ability to report a player without leaving the game, in the leaderboard.
The game also recently broke its own record for most concurrent players. The original record was some 850,500, in 2016. On Saturday, the game peaked at around 874,000. This is believed to be due to CS:GO’s growing popularity in China, the game’s move to a free-to-play model, and the introduction of the first battle pass.
