Crytek seems to be hinting at a remaster or remake of Crysis

Crytek seems to be hinting at a new version of Crysis. In a showcase video, the developer showcases games made with the CryEngine over the past decade. At the end there are images of Crysis from 2007. An older video also contains a hint.

The images at the end of the new showcase video are out of place because they aren’t about a game released in the past decade. There is also no caption in the video, but it is clear that these are images of the original Crysis. That game was made with CryEngine version 2.

Last year in August, Crytek put a video online about the features in CryEngine 5.6. That tech trailer features footage of an island at the end that looks a lot like the area in which Crysis is set. There was no further explanation about this, but the fact that Crytek again closes the new video with Crysis images strengthens the hint.

Crysis came out in 2007 and the game was graphically sensational at the time. At the time, it was very challenging to run the game smoothly with current hardware. Only in the following years did video cards come on the market with which the game could be played smoothly at high resolutions in the highest settings.
