Crusader Kings II Gets Optional Monthly Subscription With All Dlc
Paradox is introducing an optional monthly subscription for its Crusader Kings II game. For 5 euros per month, players get access to all released DLC. All expansions separately cost more than 200 euros. The game itself is free to play.
Crusader Kings II was released in 2012 and has been free to play since 2019. The game has already been followed by a third part, but because of the availability of the many expansions, the old version is still popular. All DLC together costs more than 300 euros separately, or more than 263 euros when purchased in a bundle on Steam.
With the monthly subscription, Paradox wants to make the ‘full experience’ of Crusader Kings II available at a low entry rate of 5 euros per month. With the subscription, players get access to all DLC and can thus become acquainted with the expansions. The subscription is optional and it is still possible to purchase the extensions separately.
The expansions for Crusader Kings II consist of thirteen major expansions, twelve packs of new units, fourteen music expansions, ten DLCs featuring clothing and faces of world leaders, and a Game Converter, which can be used to transfer save games to Europa Universalis IV. The Ruler Designer is also part of the monthly subscription; this allows players to create their own monarch.
Paradox says it is considering adding subscriptions to other games as well. The developer and publisher also runs franchises such as Age of Wonders, Europa Universalis, Magicka and Stellaris.
