Criminals break into email accounts of several Norwegian politicians

The Norwegian government has been hit by a cyber attack. In addition, the e-mail accounts of various politicians and civil servants have been hacked. It is not clear who the perpetrators are or what they stole.

It would be a “significant attack,” the Norwegian parliament speaker told Reuters. During the attack ‘a number’ of politicians and employees were allegedly hacked. The chairman does not want to say how many there are. According to the largest opposition party, several members and employees have been affected.

Not much is known about the attack yet. For example, it is not clear who carried it out and how the hacks took place. It is also not known what information the attackers have stolen. Norway’s National Security Institute says it is assisting politicians with assistance and technical support in the investigation.
