Cougar has announced a new keyboard for gamers. The 600K is a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches that closely resembles the Cougar 700K, but offers less extensive functionality.

According to Cougar, the 700K is for the gamer who wants extended functionality and the 600K is for the ‘purist’. As an example, the company mentions that the 600K does not need drivers to work and a lot of other functionality would be immediately available without further configuration.

It is a mechanical keyboard with the well-known Cherry MX switches, which are available in four colors. The keyboard supports N-Key Rollover, where each key is registered independently for correct detection, regardless of how many keys are pressed simultaneously.

One of the few differences with the Cougar 700K seems to be the lack of the six programmable keys on the left side and there is also no full backlighting: only the w, a, s and d keys and the media keys can be illuminated. It is unclear whether the same Cortex M0 cpu and memory quantity of 512KB is present and the price is also unknown.
