‘Corsair’s PCI-e 4.0 SSD of 1TB costs 249 euros’
The Corsair MP600 SSDs that use the PCI-e 4.0 interface are said to cost 249 and 449 euros. The cheapest model has a capacity of 1TB and the more expensive version is a 2TB variant.
If the prices are right, then the PCI-e 4.0 SSDs from Corsair have a price of 0.24 and 0.22 euros per gigabyte. There are now PCI-e 3.0 SSDs for sale with a price per gigabyte of about 0.10 euros, but these are relatively slow models such as the Intel 660p series. High-end PCI-e 3.0 SSDs are more expensive. For example, SSDs in the MP510 series from Corsair cost between 0.13 and 0.20 euros per gigabyte.
According to TechPowerUp, the French website Cowcotland has put the prices of the Corsair MP600 SSDs online. However, that website has removed the article in question and the page is also not visible in Google’s cache. The French site may have received information under embargo and published it too early.
The Corsair MP600 SSDs are made up of TLC memory, a large heatsink and they use a Phison PS5016-E16 controller. According to the manufacturer, the PCI-e 4.0 SSDs achieve sequential read and write speeds of 4950MB/s and 4250MB/s. The SSDs can be used on AMD X570 motherboards. Those are the first consumer motherboards with PCI-e 4.0 support.
Corsair announced its PCI-e 4.0 SSDs at the end of May, simultaneously with manufacturer Gigabyte. The manufacturers did that at the unveiling of the X570 motherboards from AMD. The SSDs will be on the market as soon as the new AMD motherboards and processors come out; that happens on July 7.
