Corsair introduces K70 RGB Pro keyboard with 8kHz polling rate for 200 euros
Corsair introduces an RGB Pro variant of its mechanical K70 keyboard and it will be available for a price of 200 euros. The keyboard offers, among other things, a polling rate of 8 kHz.
The Corsair K70 RGB Pro largely retains the design of the K70 and adds RGB lighting as with previous variants such as last year’s K70 RGB TKL. Unlike the RGB TKL, however, the K70 RGB Pro has a numpad and is not a tenkeyless variant.
The Pro designation should probably earn the keyboard against the K70 RGB MK.2 with its 8kHz polling rate. This value indicates that the keyboard is passing input to the PC 8,000 times per second. This should minimize latency, but the question is what users will notice in practice. Internally, the keyboard records keystrokes at 4kHz. These relatively high polling rates are made possible by the presence of the real-time control system Axon on the microcontroller of the K70 RGB Pro.
As far as switches are concerned, there is a choice of Cherry MX Red, Blue, Brown, Silent Red and Speed Silver and the connection is via a detachable cable with USB-C connection. Earlier Corsair keyboards often had a thick fixed cable. In addition, there is now a standard layout for the keys so that you can easily mount custom keycaps. The lighting can be controlled with Corsair’s iCUE software and there is 8MB of storage available to accommodate 50 profiles.
Corsair reports that the K70 RGB Pro will be available in the US starting February 13, with worldwide availability to follow in March. On the German site, the company mentions a price of 200 euros.
