Corsair comes with two SSDs in the new Force LX budget series
Corsair has announced two solid state drives in the new Force LX series. The SSDs are available with storage capacities of 128GB and 256GB, and are controlled with a controller from Silicon Motions.
The 128GB version of the Force LX offers sequential read and write speeds of 560MB/s and 150MB/s respectively. The number of iops in reads would be 68,000, compared to 36,000 in writes. Corsair uses a suggested retail price of 74.99 dollars, converted 55 euros.
Corsair specifies read and write speeds of 560MB/s and 300MB/s for the 256GB edition. The number of iops in random read and write operations is 76,000 and 70,000 respectively. This version should cost 129.99 dollars, or about 95 euros.
The two SSDs are positioned by the manufacturer as entry-level models and are equipped with an SM2246EN controller from Silicon Motion. The mlc-nand flash chips come from Micron. Due to the low profile thickness of 7mm, the SSDs can also be built into a large number of laptops. Nothing has yet been announced about an introduction in Europe.
Update 30/5: There may also be a 512GB edition, Hexus reports. Details on this are still lacking.
