Corsair acquires modular controller maker SCUF

Corsair has acquired SCUF Gaming, a maker of modular game controllers. SCUF will remain active in the market under its own name and the company will also continue to operate from its headquarters in Atlanta, USA.

With the acquisition of SCUF, Corsair is expanding its position in the accessories market for professional gamers such as e-athletes. In addition, the company will receive the patents of SCUF. SCUF has been awarded 103 patents and has 55 pending applications. These are patents that describe techniques for the components on the back of controllers, triggers, thumbsticks and configurable buttons on the sides.

SCUF was founded in 2011 and focuses on the development of modular controllers for gamers. That means the company’s controllers have removable paddles and interchangeable thumbsticks with a click system. Also, the triggers of SCUF controllers are configurable. Details about the acquisition, such as an acquisition amount, were not disclosed.
