Corsair accidentally announces arrival of Obsidian 1000D housing
Corsair briefly had the product page of the Obsidian 1000D online, a housing that the company has not yet announced. The Super Tower can contain an additional mini-itx board in addition to an e-atx motherboard.
The Obsidian 1000D is the successor to the 900D from 2013 and should be Corsair’s new top model. It is a spacious housing with dimensions of 693 × 307 × 697 mm, which consists of steel and aluminum, with side panels of tempered glass. The weight is 29.5 kilograms.
According to the description, the 1000D e-atx housing has room for a second mini-itx motherboard. For this, there is room directly next to the atx power supply on the bottom plate for an sfx-l variant, which occupies a 90 degree angled seat in the housing.
The front panel has room for two rows of four 120mm fans. Three 140mm fans can be placed at the top and two more 120mm fans can be positioned at the back. In terms of water cooling, two 480mm models can be installed at the front, a 420mm radiator above and a 240mm variant at the rear. Furthermore, the 1000D offers space for six 2.5″ drives and five 3.5″ HDDs.
Four USB 3.1 type-c connectors and four type-a connectors are available on the front panel, in addition to the microphone and headphone jacks. Corsair has placed RGB lighting around those ports. The Commander Pro controller to control RGB lighting is integrated.
On the Corsair site, the Obsidian 1000D was priced at 500 dollars, a member of the LinusTechTips forum noted, converted and with VAT the price comes to 492 euros, which means that a price of 500 euros is in line with expectations. The housing is now also available on Amazon and an official announcement seems to take place in the short term.
