Cooler Master starts selling Raspberry Pi 4 housing for 25 euros

Cooler Master introduces the Pi Case 40 in Europe. The housing for Raspberry Pi 4 systems can be ordered for 25 euros and will be available in November. The housing had a successful crowdfunding campaign in July.

Cooler Master is releasing the Pi Case 40 in Europe after the Kickstarter project that started in July proved a success. The goal was to raise 9,000 euros to finance the production of the housing and that amount was achieved within an hour. At the end of the campaign, the counter stood at 314,000 euros, pledged by 5,468 people.

The Pi Case 40 is an aluminum housing with dimensions of 96x68x28mm that passively cools a Raspberry Pi. The compact case provides direct access to the Raspberry Pi’s interfaces. For example, the gpio ports are rotated 90 degrees and accessible through a side door.

There is a button on the housing to switch the computer board on and off; it is configurable for other applications. This reconfiguration can be done using the Pi Tool, which Cooler Master developed and whose source code has been released via GitHub. The tool can also be used to monitor the temperature of the Raspberry Pi 4’s Broadcom quadcoresoc and apply overclocking profiles.

Four stretch goals were also achieved in the crowdfunding. This means that Cooler Master includes four VESA brackets for mounting the housing and an adapter for the power supply. In addition, the company promised to make the schematic drawings public, so that users can design and 3D print mounts themselves. Cooler Master will also offer the possibility to vote for alternative user confirmation panels, of which the cad drawings will be published or which Cooler Master will produce itself.

Cooler Master expects to deliver the Pi Case 40 sometime between 17 and 30 November. The suggested retail price is 25 euros. There are more enclosures for the Raspberry Pi 4, including the Raspberry Pi 4 Case from Raspberry itself.
