Cooler Master shows cheapest monitor with mini LED backlight so far

Cooler Master announces two 27″ monitors with a mini LED backlight. They are UHD and QHD screens with refresh rates of 165Hz and 160Hz. Both models have a backlight with 576 zones and brightness up to 1200cd/m². The qhd model costs 699 dollars.

The maximum brightness applies to the peak in HDR playback. In SDR display, the monitors have a maximum brightness of 600cd/m². Cooler Master bases the monitors on AHVA panels from AU Optronics. The 4k model is called GP27-FUS and is equipped with a DisplayPort 1.4 connection with Display Stream Compression. This version also gets two HDMI 2.1 ports with a bandwidth of 48Gbit/s.

The GP27-FQS model with the 1440p resolution has HDMI 2.0 connections. Both screens get a USB-C port with up to 90W of Power Delivery. The monitors are height adjustable and the screens can be tilted. It has not yet been announced when the monitors will be released.

Cooler Master lists a suggested retail price of $699 for the 1440p model. Converted with VAT, that is about 745 euros. At that price, it would be the cheapest monitor with mini LED backlight to date. A comparable screen from AOC currently costs at least 1019 euros. Cooler Master does not yet mention a price for the 4k variant and it is not yet clear when the screens will be on the market.
