Cooler Master collects enough to make mechanical keypad with analog input
Cooler Master is going to release ControlPad, which was revealed last week. The company reached its Kickstarter goal of $43,295 for making the keypad with analog mechanical keys over the past weekend.
Cooler Master reached the goal within four days of starting its Kickstarter project, and there are 41 days left in the campaign. The ControlPad is a keypad with 24 mechanical keys with analog operation, similar to the Wooting keyboard.
In the implementation of the ControlPad, a sensor measures how far the mechanical switch is pressed: the light from an infrared LED reflects off the bottom of the key and the sensor measures the amount to determine the distance. The degree of impression can thus be used for applications.
The manufacturer will supply the ControlPad with red switches from Cherry MX and Gateron. The accessory also has RGB lighting, two wheels and a detachable wrist rest. According to Cooler Master, the part is mainly suitable for gaming, with the company referring to the list of games that Aimpad supports for precise control.
Cooler Master is also thinking of support for Photoshop and Illustrator, for example, and also wants to make special keycaps for this, in addition to keycaps for fps games, for example. The company expects to start delivery in May and uses a ‘starting from’ price of 69 euros for a ControlPad with Gateron switch for the Kickstarter project. It is not yet known what the retail price will be.
