Coolblue has decided to temporarily close its physical stores due to the consequences of the new corona virus. The company has also temporarily switched off various categories in its range ‘that are not important now’.

The Coolbue store page shows that the branches across the country are closed. Some branches are still open on Mondays, but not after that. The Brabant branches in Eindhoven and Tilburg are already closed.

In an explanation, Coolblue reports that the measure will be in force until at least 6 April. The company lists minor categories such as suitcases, navigation systems and barbecues on its website. Instead, Coolblue mainly focuses on product groups that are currently popular, such as monitors, webcams and freezers. According to the company, these groups show growth of hundreds of percent.

“People are ordering an extreme amount of home workplaces, equipment to keep in touch and stuff to keep households running.” According to director Pieter Zwart, employees in eight different halls of the distribution center in Tilburg work day and night ‘with sufficient distance from each other’ to process the orders.
