Compact Computing Board Rock Pi X Includes Intel Atom Soc

The makers of Rock Pi 4, a computing board with Rockchip RK3399-soc, have developed a variant with an Atom x5-Z8300. That’s an Intel quad-core of the Cherry Trail generation. The cheapest version of the Atom computing board costs $39.

There will be an A and a B model, both with Atom x5-Z8300. The difference is that model B supports WiFi-ac and Bluetooth 4.2 and optional power-over-ethernet via a hat add-on. The dimensions of the computing board are 85×52 mm. CNX discovered the specifications of the Rock Pi X in the Hackerboards database and got the picture from Radxa, the manufacturer of the product.

The manufacturer will supply the Rock Pi X with 1GB, 2GB and 4GB lpddr3 and a micro-SD card slot and an emmc socket are available for storage. HDMI 1.4 is present for the output of 4k video at 30Hz, in addition to edp and mipi dsi connectors. There are also ports for USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and a USB type-c connector with on-the-go support. The computing board also has gigabit Ethernet. A 40-pin header is available for expansion, including gpio and pwm.

The new computing board is a variant of the Rock Pi 4 that includes an ARM soc, the Rockchip RK3399. The prices are identical. The manufacturer charges 39, 49 and 65 dollars respectively for the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions of the Rock Pi X model A. Model B costs 49, 59 and 75 dollars consecutively for the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB versions.

There are more compute boards with Intel Atom sockets, like the one from Aaeon, but many of them are more expensive.
