Compact Aya Neo Air Handheld With OLED Display And Ryzen 5 5560U Costs $549

Aya Neo has revealed all the details of its upcoming Air handhelds. They get a 5.5″ OLED screen and Ryzen APUs with Zen 3 cores and a Vega GPU. The Windows gaming handheld is much smaller than the Steam Deck and slightly smaller than the Nintendo Switch.

All versions of the Aya Neo Air get a 5.5″ OLED screen with a 16:9 ratio and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The cheapest model at $549 has a Ryzen 5 5560U APU, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. More expensive Pro models are also coming. versions with up to the Ryzen 7 5825U apu, more memory and storage, and a larger battery.

The cheapest versions have a 28Wh battery. When playing games such as The Witcher 3 and Forza Horizon 5, the battery is empty after about an hour, according to the manufacturer. In simple games, such as Dead Cells, the battery lasts up to 2.5 hours, according to Aya Neo. The Pro versions have a 38Wh battery. This increases the playing time to about one and a half hours and more than three hours with the same games.

Aya Neo Air vs Nintendo Switch vs Steam Deck

With their relatively old Vega GPU, the Aya Neo handhelds have less graphical computing power than the Steam Deck, which is equipped with an RDNA2 GPU. However, the Aya Neo Air is a lot smaller and lighter than Valve’s handheld. The Air handhelds also have more CPU computing power, thanks to the newer Zen 3 cores.

The Aya Neo Air handhelds can be pre-ordered in China and the manufacturer says they will ship from August. The company also plans to release a cheaper model with a Mendocino apu. That Aya Neo Air Plus would have a 6″ 1080p screen and cost $ 289. The apu in question has an RDNA2 GPU, but reportedly with only two compute units. The apu in the Steam Deck has eight such CUs.

Aya Neo is also working on gaming handhelds with Ryzen 6000 APUs, which will feature RDNA2 GPUs with 6 to 12 compute units. It is not yet known when these more expensive high-end models will be released and what they will cost.
