Command & Conquer: Rivals Smartphone Game Coming December 4
Electronic Arts releases Command & Conquer: Rivals on December 4. The game will be released for iOS and Android. In the mobile version of the classic rts, two players compete against each other.
Command & Conquer: Rivals is a free-to-play game that Electronic Arts announced at this year’s E3. The game is only playable in multiplayer, where two players compete against each other. Players can choose whether to enter the arena as the Rivals, the GDI or the Brotherhood of Nod. Both players start in a base and compete for control of three platforms around a central missile silo. If one of the players manages to control two or more of the platforms for a certain amount of time, the missile is launched which then destroys the enemy base.
EA probably wants to monetize the game through microtransactions, but has not yet released how. EA also wants to use the game for e-sports. The game will therefore receive a Rivals Champions mode, which, according to the publisher, is inspired by FIFA Ultimate Team Champions. Next year, EA wants to start an esports league with Rivals.
Command & Conquer: Rivals isn’t the first C&C mobile game. Browser game Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances was released in 2012. The last full C&C game was Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight in 2010.
