CodeWeavers Shows Working Steam Client For Android Based Remix OS
CodeWeavers showed a version of the popular game client Steam that runs on Remix OS during the Game Developer Conference. That desktop operating system is based on Android.
During the demonstration, only the Steam client itself was shown. In the video that CodeWeavers has put online, no games are opened, but only the game library can be seen. To get the Steam games up and running, a lot more work will probably have to be done. For the presentation, the company collaborated with Jide, the developers of Remix OS. At the beginning of this year, version 2.0 of this free operating system that is based on Android and works on x86 systems.
CodeWeavers is known for its CrossOver software for Linux and Mac, which allows Windows software to run on the other operating systems. The company is also working on a variant for Android, so that Windows programs can be run on Android devices. CodeWeavers probably used that technique to get the Steam client working on Remix OS.
